Capitalism

Oh Capitalism. The strange beast.

On one hand, one can view it as the natural order of things. A "market" that equalizes itself overtime through the process of survival of the fittest.

On the other hand, it is the vile representation of humanity's greed and desire for wealth, or the inhumane fight for survival.

It is the great innovator. Many of the comforts and advancements in our standard of living we have thanks to the glorious desire for wealth.

But on the other hand, it runs rampant with corruption, hellish corporate entities dedicated to raising its own bottom line.

Gambling, such as through the stock market and through even wylder means like crypto, come with winners and losers. There are many losers to ensure the winners make profit. And the game is often rigged.

But how else do we represent a human's value? How else to we represent their time, effort, and ability? Capitalism provides us a means for that.

But yet... automation will remove the lowest tier of people. If we value a person's right to exist, surely we wouldn't let them starve or die?

AI throws another wrench into the gears... we don't know the extent of the changes AI will provide for us.

Human nature does not allow for us to change without a fight. Those of dominant positions will never give them up, easily. And should we force them to give up the positions they built for themselves, if we can establish that concept as "building".

What about the environment... who will care about it? Who will do something about it?

Am I to feel bad... that I value my time and effort
Am I to feel bad... because I think I am worth more than others that haven't put the time and effort in that I have?
Am I to feel bad... for wanting to own things? Luxuries? Better living conditions?

I do not know how I am supposed to feel, about any of it. But what I do feel... is still optimism.

I feel optimism because I have read history. Humans have only become stronger over the last 200 years. We are in the same growing pains we have always been, being forced to constantly adapt to our ever changing world.

If Capitalism does not stay around, then so be it. But I think we as a society have forgotten why it ever existed in the first place. Why we needed it, even if we no longer need it anymore. We as Americans cannot decided what even is important.

Do not take this rant as a cry for communism. I think communism has spoken for itself over the last 200 years.

Do not take this rant as a cry for socialism, mostly because we cannot even define what socialism is.

Take this rant as a cry for optimism. In that humans will find a way to innovate, and constantly increase the standard of living for all humans. I believe in this concept, even when it feels like it isn't going in that direction.
